General Pests - Restaurant Section

The National Restaurant Association provided the
questions below to help restaurant managers and
owners choose a pest control company. (see our answers below)

  • Does the company provide a "satisfaction guaranteed" clause?
Greenway: Yes, your satisfaction is always guaranteed and in writing.

  • Will the company assign one technician or will it rotate your restaurant to different technicians?
Greenway:  Only one technician is assigned for several reason but mainly to be able to monitor any changes in pest activity
and adjust the service program if needed.  Having different technicians rotate does not allow a close monitoring program to
take place.

  • Does the company include written reports that highlight sanitation, construction or other relevant deficiencies?
Greenway: Yes, we provide a detailed floor plan of your facility and we document each service and provide you with a
written sanitation report and any sanitation or structural recommendations. (click here for example)

  • Can you accompany the technician during visits?
Greenway: Absolutely, this is encourage. If you have been in the restaurant industry for length of time, you know there must
be a partnership between the pest company and restaurant management for any pest management service to be
successful.

  • At what time are service calls usually made?
Greenway: Because we utilize integrated pest management (IPM) technics along with botanical products which are
registered and can be used during food preparation, our services can be done at times most convenient for restaurant
management. For many restaurants, this time frame is mid afternoon after the lunch crowd is gone and before the dinner
crowd.

  • What pretreatment and post-treatment precautions and preparations should the restaurant perform?
Greenway: Utilizing integrated pest management (IPM) technics along with botanical products which are registered and can
be used during food preparation, our services do not require pre-or-post treatment precautions. We simply ask you cover
any open foods which is a common sanitation practice and would be done normally anyway. We also ask you to provide any
corrections to our sanitation recommendations as soon as possible to help element potential problems.

  • What chemicals are involved? Will they contaminate food or preparation surfaces? Are they safe for a restaurant?
Greenway: Utilizing Prentiss patented botanical products which are specifically registered for restaurants and can be used
during food preparation as a crack and crevice and spot treatment application and are much safer than traditional
pesticides but just as effective.

  • Can the company provide Material Safety Data Sheets on the products used?
Greenway: Of course. We can provide hard copies or a direct website link to our Labels and their respective MSDS.

  • What pests are covered in the service contract?
Greenway: Our program is designed to maximize results utilizing safer botanical products for the control of
common pests including cockroaches, ants, spiders, and common pantry pests. Rat and mice are also included.
(Effective Rat and mice pest management is contingent upon the customer taking the needed exclusion measures
as recommended by Greenway). Fly control is optional but can be added to your service agreement at an
additional charge.

  • How many service calls are included in the price?
Greenway: Our program is designed to maximize results, therefore we provide weekly service utilizing safer botanical
products each service for these simple reasons. (1.) Most restaurants today use power washing on their floors, around
drains and outside eating areas to maximize sanitation and remove foodstuffs. Although great for sanitation and cleanliness
it obviously breaks down any pest product quickly. Hence a weekly program helps keep the pest product replenished for
maximum control. (2) In these economic times, restaurants are keeping less food inventory and relying on increased deliveries
to maximize profits. With each delivery comes the potential for german cockroach infestation regardless of the cleanliness of
the restaurant. Compared to 29 days a weekly service (every 7 days) helps monitor and hopefully eliminates an infestation
from starting. With a weekly service we can concentrate on a specific zone each week maximizing your service. Most
restaurants are broken down into 4 or 5 service zones. Two in the kitchen, two in the dinning areas, and one for the bar
area if there is one.

  • Are there additional charges when extra service is needed to eliminate a contracted pest?
Greenway: No, there are no additional charges to eliminate a contracted pest. Your service is always guaranteed.

  • What areas of the restaurant are excluded from the contract?
Greenway: None. We include all areas of the restaurant and none are excluded as long as they are accessible for treatment. An
example is a locked liquor area. These types of areas need to be accessible so as to monitor and service for any potential
problems that come in on deliveries.

  • How fast can the technician arrive in case of emergency?
Greenway:  Usually we can have a technician arrive within a couple of hours. With our technology our service technicians are
provided smart phones and I Pads. We can communicate with them by phone, text, and email. Once you are on service with our
company our technician can provide you with their cell phone number and email so you may contact them directly for your
convenience.
